Fatboy's Journey: From Music to Hair Care Excellence

The Fatboy story began with the merging of music and hair care. Tyson Kennedy, the lead singer of Steriogram and the founder of Fatboy, aimed to develop exceptional hair products for his band's tour performances. Experimenting with styling putty on his stove led to the birth of Fatboy and its flagship product, Perfect Putty.

In New York City, Tyson perfected the "Perfect Putty" formula, which quickly gained popularity among stylists and customers alike. Emboldened by this success, he made Fatboy his next venture.

Fatboy's Roots: Steriogram and the iPod Commercials

Tyson Kennedy and Tim Youngson, the co-founders of Fatboy, also formed the international touring band Steriogram. The band's most popular single, "Walkie Talkie Man," was famously featured in the iconic iPod commercial.

Tyson, who had been styling hair since the age of 15, developed his first hair care product out of necessity. When Steriogram performed their high-energy concerts, no existing styling products could keep the band members' hair in place. Tyson began cooking batches of styling putty on his stove before each tour, laying the groundwork for what would eventually become Fatboy.

After a successful eight-year run, Steriogram went on hiatus, and Tyson embarked on a successful career in the New York salon industry. It was here that he further refined his "Perfect Putty" formula and began selling it to local salons.

The Fatboy Brand Takes Shape

The Perfect Putty formula was so successful that NYC stylists couldn't keep it in stock. Tyson and Tim decided to turn Fatboy into a full-time business, determined to build a customer base much like Steriogram had built its fan base.

Today, Fatboy's strategy includes city-to-city touring, engaging product displays, and authentic interactions with audiences. And from time to time, they even bring out the Steriogram band to connect with their customers on a deeper level.
